I can’t explain why this is funny…but it just is.

I should probably take this time to apologize for the 45 minutes of your life which you will now squander.

I had no fewer than four conversations with people yesterday who, upon being asked the innocuous, “How are you?” responded with a tortured description of their anxiety about the upcoming election. I’ve heard McCain supporters (notice how I’m not calling them “conservatives?” Know why? Because they’re NOT) say that so-called liberals get too emotional and they freak out and they need to get some perspective, and blah blah blah, but I think that a lot of us feel pretty strongly that a McCain/Palin victory in this election would signify that the country we live in and love isn’t actually what we thought it was and hoped it would be. I don’t think it’s too strong a characterization to say that many of us feel that a McCain/Palin victory would, in fact, be a sign that perhaps the Founding Fathers’ experiement in a democracy of the people, by the people, and for the people wasn’t working out how they’d intended it would. More on this later, no doubt, but let me just say for today that I’m feeling a little tense and I’m sensing that other people are, too…
Join me, won’t you, in a little laughter therapy?
