Because I Said So, That's Why

When my children disagree, I insist that they discuss their differences calmly and respectfully.  When one of them loses it, and resorts to character assassination along the lines of, "Oh yeah, well you're a big stupid head and you smell funny," he or she is sent to time out.

Time Freaking Out.

Sarah Palin asked, not so long ago, what the Vice President actually does.  Apparently, what the Vice Presidential candidate does is talk smack about the opposition.  Why is it OK that both Biden and Palin have been set loose as attack dogs?

These folks, these politicians, these would-be-leaders love to get up and talk about the great and powerful nation of the United States...god bless it and everyone in it ad infinitum.  Oh really?  Then stop acting like petty schoolchildren and let's get down to some actual debate and conversation.  Let's identify positions and policies and plans and let people hear what you will do not what some speechwriter thinks that some significant sector of the voting populace wants to hear.

And, while I'm here, Rudy Giuliani has no dignity and should be embarrassed to look at himself in the mirror in the morning.  And Keith Olbermann should never, ever, ever be allowed to cover any event as though he is an objective reporter.  Seriously.  And this is coming from someone who usually agrees with Olbermann's sentiments if not his delivery.

If you'll excuse me, I need to go bathe with Clorox and Brillo to get the odor of division and manipulation off me.

Same old story, politics of destruction being employed by the Repubs. because they have nothing left to offer. Interesting in all those attack speeches there was no substance. There was no BUSH! There was no discussion as you have mentioned of any particular policy idea. Just attack, and put others down, not very Christian if you ask me. I have watched both conventions gavel to gavel, yes I realize I have issues, and one stark difference is the amount of booing that goes on. The Dems took their shots at McSame but not without prefacing it with praise. Last night they went after Barak and the sad part is everyone in the hall enjoyed it but probably not as much as the speakers themselves. Palin gave a fine speech but it was short on substance and long on attack. She didn't mention that she believes that creationism should be taught in school. That gloabal warming has nothing to do with human beings. Or that she once wanted to burn books in her public library. Or that she graduated with a bachelors in journalism, which in some peoples world makes her ready to be president. When she appears on Meet the Press and debates Biden then we'll see just how ready she is to be commander and chief. Until then I will bide my time and hope that the American people are tired of negative attacks and fear and everything that republicans now stand for. What it comes down to is whether or not this country wants to move forward into the 21st century or move back to the 19th. I hope my faith in the american people is not misplaced.

I know, it's like a preschool argument at the sandbox, isn't it? "He SAID THIS! She SAID THAT! WAAH!!!" OMG, I wanna hurl. Seriously, the media doesn't help, either. Can't we get back to FACTUAL reporting and focus on issues, people?

I couldn't agree more. Giuliani made me cringe, Romney was just smarmy. But weren't you listening when Huckabee spoke about Lava soap? Still tough on the skin, but better than Brillo and Clorox...

If we're at the bar, I'm pretty sure you're toward the left of the bartender and I'm toward the right, but after the Olbermann comment, I'm buying you drinks until closing time. Them I'm asking you something about leaving the bar and starting a new life together, spouses and kids be damned. But then I pass out. Hey, it's closing time and I'm pretty wasted.

Yes. I'm probably to the left of the bartender...like way left. In fact, when you hit Chairman Mao, take another left and look for me off in the distance.

But hey! doesn't this go to show that we CAN all get along??!!

I'll get you advil and an icepack for that hangover headache any day.

I absolutely agree with you. But the conventions, in my opinion, serve more as "infomercials" for the candidates, and a way to get your party pumped up and dancing in the aisles. When the debates come, that's what we'll really see who knows what the hell they're talking about. And I have a strong feeling the candidates on the right will have a really hard time backing up their contradictions and foolish policies...
