Welcome to My Little House on the Prairie
What the?!!!
My kid has Scarlet Fever.
Next thing you know, the other one will develop scurvy.
In other news, I finally finished my research paper, but I haven't managed to wash my hair in three days.
One step forward, two steps back, people.
Now if you'll excuse me, I've got to go procure some leeches and holy water.
p.s. Lest you think I am a totally heartless bitch for mocking my son's illness, Scarlet Fever isn't really that big a deal. It's just fun to write because the only person anyone ever knew who had Scarlet Fever was Mary Ingalls, the prissy blind big sister. That was pre-antibiotics.

Scarlett Fever went around Puck's class this year and she was a lucky victim. I too thought of Mary Ingalls (who is a super distant relative of mine, thank you ancestry.com for letting me know that fact).

Feel better, WRH little one.
And enjoy the milkshakes that are supposed to come along with the treatment of this illness.

I don't think of mary ingalls when I think scarlett fever (although I was obsessed with that entire book series when I was in the 3rd grade). I think of the boy from the velveteen rabbit. Isn't that what he had? And he almost died? And had to put poor bunny in the burn pile, only to be rescued by the nursery magic fairy. I'm glad it's not so serious these days.
