I Didn't Get Too Far With the Times This Weekend
I made it as far as the weddings...turns out I'm freaking old as black pepper so I don't know anyone getting married anymore. I'm sure that the NYTimes was packed with fascinating content and commentary; I just don't know what any of it is.
I just finished Love Walked In by Marisa de los Santos. (Why are pictures not working on other posts???!!! Will this work? It's a completely arbitrary situation. Sometimes pictures appear. Sometimes they do not. Sometimes they do and then they leave. Where do they go?)

I'm beginning to think that I am turning into a fence sitter, and you know what they say about that...painful for you, bad for the fence.
I just can't come down on either side of this book.
1) I think it's weird that one of the "Yea for this book" comments on the back is from Sarah Jessica Parker.
2) I like the cover...tons.
3) Protagonist - likable, but just a teensy weensy bit too superficially drawn. Same withMr. Big the love interest. The only character who was, in my humble opinion, authentically articulated was the girl...Clare. The others were more caricatures. But not necessarily such that the whole novel seemed too thin, but just enough so that it registered almost as "lite."
4) Better than average beach read.
On a completely unrelated note, bloggy people: how do I get more people to WRH? And also, why do I care? Seriously. Why. Do. I. Care. Please don't write me back and say, "write something that isn't el sucko" and/or "You are one needy loser seeking validation." If you cut me, do I not bleed?

Alas, the best ways I know to get traffic to your site are:
1) Get Bossy to list you as her Reader of the day
2) Give your opinion on American Idol or Lost, neither of which are things I watch (and especially not during TV free week, naturally)
3) Participate in more "carnivals," a la "Filch It Friday"
4) Use highly searchable terms. One friend works in sentences like "I'll bet that couple felt like big boobs when they realized they'd left their lattes on the counter!" when she wants to amuse herself and give her numbers an artificial boost with a blog bait and switch. Kind of a blogosphere version of B-School Bingo.
None of which are appealing, really. Unless you are going to surprise me by being deeply devoted to either Idol or Lost. Doing my part by linking to you but my readership is waaaay down since my hiatus. Good luck...

I have been wondering the same thing myself, as a relative newcomer. I'm not the most technologically advances (as I am old as dirt), so I was thinking about the BlogHer get-together in San Fran. This is geographically close, and might be a chance to do some old-school networking.
That being said, part of the reason I write is because I'm more comfortable doing that than schmoozing. So would it work? I have no clue. Maybe it's time to find out.
Let me know if you get any good ideas!
