Step Aside. I'm Having a Day
If I had my way, I'd be at the gym listening to The Senator's Wife, by Sue Miller, on the ipod. But I'm not. I'm slogging through a paper swamp. Miserably.
You should read the aforementioned novel, though. It's good. Miller has artfully spun some characters who unfold s-l-o-w-l-y, but it doesn't drag. A thriller it ain't, but it's a nicely written book and sometimes, after I read, I go, "huh." Which I like.
Here's what else I'm not doing. I'm not writing a full tilt analysis of Chris Matthews, which is what I wanted to do today. This guy is like staring into the sun for me. I know it's probably going to leave me permanently scarred, people will say I'm an idiot, but I can't look away.

(He so wishes he still looked like this)
You've been given a reprieve.

I prefer MSNBC to CNN these days, probably because I think Wolf Blitzer should go suck it. Keith Olbermann is perpetually where it's at, but 8pm is a bad time for me. So Hardball is usually on when I'm making dinner. Chris Matthews drives me crazy, and I'm so sick of him going on and on about small-town USA where supposedly the people are just so 'real,' whatever the hell that means. It's his schtick, but still, I tune in. So, yeah, like the sun! I caught him the other day referring to his Princeton Professor guest as 'dear.' It was so quick you almost missed it, and he quickly corrected himself, but that kind of shit is telling. Gah! Why do I watch?
