In preparation for your weekend of "recipes and celebrity gossip" here are a few observations/thoughts/time wasters for you:
Why do all the celebrities at Sundance look so weird in their winter-wear? You know what I mean? I can't put my finger on the how or why, but they look odd. Maybe it's that their coats, scarves (tied just so Euro-y), sweaters and hats all look so unworn almost ill-fitting and fresh off the rack and like they've never been sleeted on, or left in a wet pile on the floor next to the door to mold. Aren't they just so un-matchy that they are matchy? Do they recreate in these clothes?
Please can the boots tucked into skinny jeans trend end!!!!??? Please. I can barely wear socks and get boots up over my calves much less tuck extra layers in there. Plus there is that stumpy issue which I am very sensitive to, as you know.
Still plugging along on Pillars of the Earth. Snore.
Do you listen to This American Life? This week the theme was matchmakers of various sorts and they had a woman with a story about working in FAO Schwartz as a "nurse" handling "adoptions" for a certain baby doll. And due to some publicity they then sold out of all the white babies...as you can imagine, the result were many unhappy mothers, antics with a deformed display baby the girls named Nubbins, and whole lot of black (gasp) babies. Please listen...it's too damn funny. Please I think Ira Glass is super sexy.
Oh and would you maybe consider writing something about the new trend in physical disproportion? I can't figure out when and why this became ok.
