What I Really Want to Know Is...

I'm wrestling with whom I'll vote for in the primary.  I live in Pennsylvania, so I've got some time and, really, as The World's Greatest Husband points out, what I think won't really matter at that point.  But nobody seems to be able to speak about anything without sounding so much like Saturday Night Live versions of themselves.  I want a real person!  I was entirely sure that I'd be voting for Obama, and Andrew Sullivan's piece in the Atlantic Monthly clarified my own thinking for me.  Now Edwards is talking tougher about fighting special interests in a way that makes me believe.  I'm confused.

I know that a vote for Hillary is a like a vote for Bill, but whereas before I might have actually wanted both Bill and Hillary in the White House, now I only want Bill.  I want Hillary to stay home.

The debates and interviews aren't helping me at all.  Here are the questions I wish they'd ask.

1)  When was the last time you vacuumed?
2)  Do you have any idea how much a gallon of milk costs?  Organic milk?
3)  Do you know how much, on average, youth soccer league registration is?
4)  When was the last time you cut your own grass, drove your kids to sports practice and playdates, worked an 8-hour day, exercised, prepared at least one meal, and got 8 hours of sleep - all in the same 24 hour period?
5)  Do you have to wait at the doctor's office just like everybody else?  Or does your doctor make house calls?  And how much do you pay in co-pays?

If someone would answer these questions honestly, and actually admit that he/she has no earthly idea what real people live like, I'd think about putting a sign on my lawn.

Sullivan references a Washington Post article today that has sent me back towards Barack.  I think he really is the only choice.  Edwards seems to have disappeared into the vapor these last few days.  Where did he go?
